David Barnes (known also as Preston D Barnes) is a professional vocalist and musician who continues to make waves across the UK following a 22 year career in the British Army.
During his military career David has travelled extensively across the globe to over 38 countries. He has played with world renowned artists such as: Jools Holland, Russell Watson, Catherine Jenkins, JLS, and had the opportunity of recording the re-release of Status Quo’s Famous single ‘In The Army Now’ in 2010 as a backing vocalist.
He has made TV appearances in the UK on ITV and BBC and also in several other countries including South Korea.
In 2016 David appeared on ‘The Voice UK’ successfully making it through the all important Blind Auditions. Viewers learned that David had a successful career in the British Army as a highly qualified musician and became a firm favourite, securing a place on Team Ricky (Ricky Wilson). This journey took him to the final knock out stages.
Since appearing on the show, David has been asked to perform nationwide at some of the countries biggest events and venues.
Since appearing on The Voice UK, David sang the National Anthem, LIVE at Twickenham stadium for the Army vs Navy Rugby Match (which was broadcast LIVE on Sky Sports) and again, at Wembley Stadium for the NFL game alongside Gene Simmonds (American Rock band - Kiss).
David has performed on stage with the popular 'California Dreamers' juke box musical theatre show. During the show he brought back to life songs from the 1970's, featuring Crosby, Stills and Nash, James Taylor, The Eagles and many more.
For over 12 months David was proud to be a part of Europe's most popular 80's tribute show, '80's Mania' as a male principle vocalist. He paid tribute to artists such as George Michael, Boy George, Erasure and A-Ha to name a few.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, David dedicated his time creating and performing on a charity single 'We Applaud You'. The single features the incredible talents of Britain's Got Talent Winner 2019 Colin Thackery, internationally acclaimed Soprano Vocalist Christina Johnston, and the British Army musicians.
The charity single was backed by stars including Colin Maclachlan (SAS Who Dares Wins), Olympian Denise Lewis, Chesney Hawkes, Sir Cliff Richard and many more. The single has donated 100% of the proceeds to the NHS Charities Urgent Appeal.
Performing as Preston D Barnes and signed to the new Country Music record label Sonic Boom Records, Preston has previously released 2 albums and is also working on his 3rd release, a collection of original material written by some of USA's most famous songwriters. Preston has always been a Country Music fan and is looking forward to releasing his first country single in May 2022.
As well as working on the album, Preston D Barnes will be appearing at this years BCMA Fan Fest in Newark on 10th July 2022. Preston is looking forward to performing live within the Country Music scene and, as a natural entertainer, he will have you on your feet from the start.

The Story So Far
In 2010 David had the amazing opportunity to be part of a backing group on the recording of the re-release – ‘In The Army Now’ by Status Quo. David went to the studios and recorded the song with Mr Francis Rossi and Mr Rick Parfitt, all of which became a great success. David attended the BBC studios in London for a live performance of the song on the ‘Alan Titchmarsh Show’ and soon after joined Status Quo in an open air concert with an audience of 10,000 people.
Other appearances have been too many to mention but some that spring to mind was firstly singing live on South Korean TV at a Multi National Military Tattoo to which David became a resounding success with the local community for singing and performing many songs. David also sang Live at Wembley Stadium in 2013 opening the world famous NFL Game.
In 2015 David decided to put his voice to the test by fulfilling a life long dream of his. He took the plunge and applied for ‘The Voice UK’ where he would undertake 6 months of auditions in a pool of 150,000 people. David was successful throughout all the auditions and managed to make it through to the TV stages, the all important ‘Blind Auditions’ in front of the internationally famous Paloma Faith, Boy George, Will.i.am and Ricky Wilson.
His experiences have helped forge an amazing career in music and clients are delighted to have him perform at events throughout the UK & Internationally.
